Decide which layers are actually used
Take everything off the bed except the bedding you use at night. Look at the spare throw, extra pillows and decorative runner separately. If they spend every evening on the floor, they do not need to return to the bed. Choose bedding according to your preferences and its care instructions rather than color alone. A lighter-looking room can use the same practical bedding with fewer accessories; this is a decorating change, not a reason to replace working textiles.
Clear the bedside outline
Limit the bedside surface to the things you reach for regularly. Put duplicate charging cables, spare hand cream and unread stacks somewhere else. Keep a proper place for the lamp, a drink and any everyday necessities. Try moving the decorative object to a dresser if the table is small. Seeing a little clear tabletop makes a bedroom feel less packed, and makes routine wiping much easier without moving a collection of small items every time.
Store the removed pieces properly
Clean seasonal textiles according to their labels and allow them to dry completely before storage. Put the pieces together in a suitable container and label it with what is inside, rather than simply 'winter.' Avoid overfilling the storage so it remains easy to lift and close. Bring the room together with one existing light-colored item if you want a visual change. A pillow cover or a simple bowl can repeat the bedding color without requiring everything to match.
