See the wall from your seat
A picture above a sofa is seen from several positions, including a seated one. Tape paper matching the frame dimensions to the wall and look at it from the doorway, the opposite chair, and the sofa itself. Avoid setting the height by the ceiling alone. A high ceiling does not require every frame to climb upward; the artwork can still belong to the seating group below it.
Judge the gap and the width together
Move the paper lower until it feels connected to the furniture, then check that heads and cushions will not repeatedly knock it. A very small work floating above a broad sofa may need a larger mat, a companion piece, or a different wall. For a pair, lay both frames on the floor first and treat their outer edges as one composition. Unequal spacing is more noticeable than slightly different frame finishes. Keep the paper arrangement up through an evening before making the final marks; familiar viewing angles often change your first impression.
Plan the fixing before the hole
Once the paper position works, mark the actual hanging points rather than using the frame top as the drill mark. Check the wall type and use hardware rated for the frame and suitable for that wall; follow the hardware maker's instructions. Rental adhesive systems have their own surface and weight limits. If these cannot be met, choose a lighter work or a freestanding display away from places where it could be knocked.
