Start with the door in motion
Open the door fully before deciding where anything goes. Mark the area swept by the door, then walk in holding a shopping bag. A pumpkin that looks small in a photograph can occupy the exact spot where you turn toward the shoe rack. Keep the floor clear in a narrow entry and put the seasonal detail on the door or a shallow existing shelf. Do the same test from inside, including the route out.
Choose one small scene
Use one pumpkin, a dark ribbon and a paper silhouette rather than several unrelated decorations. Repeat a color already present in the entry, such as black hardware or a brown basket, so the arrangement belongs to the room. If you share a corridor, check the building rules before attaching anything outside your own door. A display on an indoor console is an equally good option and is easier to keep dry and tidy.
Keep everyday landing places
Leave the key tray and one usable section of the bench untouched. If you have to lift decorations every time you sit down, move them now. Try removable attachments on an inconspicuous area and follow the surface and adhesive instructions. Take one photo after the display is finished; when the holiday ends, it gives you a simple record of what fitted, and makes next year's setup quicker without buying another box of ornaments.
